The Ministry of Commerce announced on the 3rd that eight departments, including the Ministry of Commerce and the National Development and Reform Commission, decided to establish 29 national import trade promotion innovation demonstration zones nationwide to vigorously promote the development of international trade.

The head of the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce said that actively expanding international trade imports is an important part of China's efforts to promote high-level opening up. The Ministry of Commerce and other eight departments jointly issued a notice to add 29 national import trade promotion and innovation demonstration zones nationwide, including Beijing Capital International Airport Airport Economic Zone, Shanghai Huaihai Xintiandi Import Trade Functional Zone, Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone, Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, and Guangdong Shenzhen Qianhai Shekou Free Trade Zone. Up to now, there are 43 import demonstration zones.

The person in charge pointed out that the newly established import demonstration zones should proceed from the reality of opening up in their respective regions, effectively strengthen the two major functions of trade promotion and trade innovation, focus on optimizing the business environment, and play four major roles of promoting international trade imports, service industries, improving consumption, and demonstration and guidance. We welcome traders and investors from all countries to deepen practical cooperation with the import demonstration zone, jointly promote the liberalization and facilitation of international trade, and share China's opening up and development opportunities.

The person in charge said that China has been the world's second largest importer of international trade for 13 consecutive years. It is the export market of 210 countries and regions, and the main export market of 60 countries and regions. In the first half of this year, China's imports accounted for 10.6% of the world's imports. Oversized imports have greatly promoted the economic development and domestic employment of all trade exporting countries, and also strongly supported domestic production to ensure supply and improve people's livelihood.
