2022-11-10

From Cambodian rice to Thai perfume coconut, to Vietnamese passion fruit, durian... Since the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) came into force, more and more agricultural products from ASEAN countries are entering the Chinese market more conveniently, enriching the Chinese table. Many operators of agricultural enterprises in ASEAN countries said that with the gradual implementation of a series of rules of RCEP, the cost of intra regional trade has been significantly reduced, and the level of trade facilitation has been further improved, so that they can enjoy real benefits. Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation Report.

Tariff is favorable, trade facilitation is significantly improved

According to the Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation Report, for agricultural producers in ASEAN countries, one of the major advantages of RCEP's entry into force is that the reduction of tariffs brings about a decrease in import costs and an increase in export opportunities. According to the agreement, more than 90% of goods trade in the region will eventually achieve zero tariff, which greatly promotes cross-border trade.

"We are no longer worried about export orders as before. The industrial chain adjustment brought about by RCEP has boosted our agricultural products to develop more markets in the Chinese market." Thai coconut trader Naronsa said. Naronsa's company has entered the Chinese market since 2013, and its sales volume has increased several times in just a few years. China has become the main export market of its coconut products.

Since this year, Vietnam Passion Fruit and Durian have been allowed to enter the Chinese market. "This is good news for Vietnam, which has rich fruit resources." Du Shiqiu, lecturer of Vietnam Banking Institute, said that he hoped that more Vietnamese agricultural products could be exported to China in the future, giving full play to the complementary advantages of resources of the two countries, making full use of RCEP, and promoting the continuous development of bilateral trade relations.

"The general reduction of import tax under RCEP is a great benefit to Cambodia's agricultural development." Chen Qisheng, general manager of China Inspection and Certification Group Cambodia Co., Ltd. said.

Efficient and convenient cross-border freight volume increased significantly

According to Huacheng's import and export data observation report, Cambodia's jasmine rice has entered the harvest season since late October. The cargo ship loaded with fragrant rice starts from Sihanouk Port or Phnom Penh Port and arrives at Shekou Port in Shenzhen, China within a week. After passing the inspection and quarantine of the port customs, the fragrant rice with the size of 5kg can be directly put into the retail channel, and the rice with the size of 25kg or 50kg in large package can be put into the wholesale link, which can be supplied to large grain users, or it can be put on the market after being repackaged by rice processing enterprises.

China is one of Cambodia's largest rice export markets. According to the statistics of Cambodia Rice Federation, Cambodia exported more than 230000 tons of rice to China in the first October of this year, accounting for nearly half of its total exports.

In recent years, with the promotion of major projects such as the new land sea channel in the west and the China Laos railway, the supporting infrastructure such as the cold chain and cold storage in the region has been continuously improved, and the agricultural products of ASEAN countries have become increasingly convenient to enter the Chinese market. Take Durian, Thailand, for example. In addition to entering the Chinese market by air, you can also choose land transportation or sea transportation from Linchaban Port to Qinzhou Port, Guangxi, China, Nansha Port, Guangzhou Port and other places.

In the first October of this year, the rail sea intermodal trains of the new land and sea channel in the west transported 621026 TEUs of goods, a year-on-year increase of 19.7%. At present, the transport categories of rail sea intermodal trains in the new western land and sea channel have increased from more than a dozen kinds of ceramics and plates to more than 640 kinds, Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation Report.

According to the statistics of China Railway Kunming Bureau Group Co., Ltd., as of November 7, the accumulated freight transported by China Laos Railway has exceeded 10 million tons. Among them, the cross-border freight volume exceeded 1.8 million tons and the value of goods exceeded 12 billion yuan. At present, 25 provinces in China have successively run the China Laos railway international freight trains, and the freight transport has covered Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore and other countries and regions. The transportation of goods has expanded from fertilizer and general merchandise in the early days of opening to more than 1200 kinds of electronics, photovoltaic, cold chain fruits, etc.

Improve quality and efficiency Transformation and upgrading of traditional industries

In Naronsa's view, RCEP can drive the shaping and expansion of emerging industries in the region and promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. He said: "China is our company's largest export market. Now we export to China not only fresh coconut, but also coconut jelly and bottled coconut water. Now we pay more attention to improving product quality and competitiveness."

"In the past, when we planted durian, we used to rely on experience when we watered and fertilized it. Sometimes we were annoyed because some species were not ideal." Liang Peixin, who runs the durian plantation in Malaysia, said that since his "Sammaoshan Durian Garden" introduced the "Durian Cloud Platform" jointly built by Alibaba Cloud and Malaysian Ricardo Co., Ltd., intelligent detection and data analysis can more effectively manage the durian garden and durian planting, save costs and increase production.

Ouyang Jianbin, general manager of Zhongbao Food Technology (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., said that RCEP would help Chinese agricultural enterprises in Cambodia to build and adjust their industries. The transformation from the traditional mode of importing and processing raw materials to the re trade of raw materials after processing in the country of origin not only optimizes the regional economic pattern to a certain extent, but also reduces unnecessary losses, Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation Report.
