According to data from Meizhou Customs, in October 2022, Meizhou’s import and export will be 900 million yuan, of which 230 million yuan will be imported and 670 million yuan will be exported, a month-on-month increase of 0.3%. In October, Meizhou's foreign trade mainly showed four characteristics:
First, imports of processing trade are growing strongly. According to customs data, from January to October, Meizhou imported and exported 2.21 billion yuan in the form of processing trade, a year-on-year increase of 12% (the same below). In October, 210 million yuan was imported and exported in the form of processing trade, accounting for 23.3% of the total import and export value of Meizhou City (the same below) during the same period. Among them, 36.28 million yuan was imported in the form of processing trade, an increase of 27.8%.
Second, imports and exports to major trading partners grew steadily. According to customs data, in October, Meizhou's imports and exports to ASEAN, Hong Kong, and Taiwan were 220 million yuan, 130 million yuan, and 45.15 million yuan, respectively, an increase of 35.4%, 4.2%, and 102.3%. 44.3% of the total import and export value of Meizhou City; the import and export to countries along the "Belt and Road" is 310 million yuan, an increase of 26.8%.
Third, the export of electrical equipment, automatic data processing equipment and their components has grown rapidly. According to customs data, in October, Meizhou exported 74.91 million yuan and 50.96 million yuan of automatic data processing equipment and its parts, and electrical equipment, respectively, an increase of 53% and 113.9% respectively.
Fourth, imports of agricultural products and plastics in primary forms have increased significantly. According to customs data, in October, Meizhou imported 12.93 million yuan of agricultural products and 9 million yuan of primary shape plastics, an increase of 215.8% and 80.1% respectively.
