The compilation of customs statistics is one of the four tasks of the customs prescribed by the Customs Law. Customs statistics is an integral part of national economic statistics. The General Administration of Customs is responsible for organizing and managing the national customs to carry out statistical work.

The customs data can reflect the situation of China's import and export goods, monitor and warn the import and export, and provide the basis for the country to formulate foreign trade policies, conduct macroeconomic regulation and control, and implement strict and efficient customs management. At the same time, customs statistical information is also an important data for studying China's foreign trade economic development and international trade relations.

Scope of customs data statistics

1. Goods included in customs statistics

It refers to the goods that actually enter and leave the country and cause changes in the domestic material stock, including the goods imported and exported by legal persons, other organizations and individuals operating foreign trade in China in the form of general trade, barter trade, processing trade, compensation trade, consignment trade, etc., the inbound and outbound goods in the bonded area and bonded area warehouse, the inbound and outbound goods leased for one year or more, and the inbound and outbound goods of small border trade, International aid materials or donations, over-discharged goods, goods temporarily imported and exported by units without the right to import and export.

2. Goods not included in customs statistics

It refers to goods that have not actually entered or exited or actually entered or exited but have not caused changes in the stock of domestic materials, including goods in transit, transshipment, through transportation, goods temporarily imported and exported, gold for currency and currency, leased import and export goods with a lease term of less than one year, import and export goods that have been compensated or replaced free of charge due to damage, shortage, poor quality or noncompliance with regulations, returned goods, samples or advertising articles without commercial value, Goods transferred between areas under special customs supervision and other goods not included in customs statistics as stipulated by the General Administration of Customs.

3. Goods not included in customs data statistics but subject to individual statistics

The customs will carry out individual statistics on some goods that are not included in the statistics, such as duty-free goods, returned goods, transit goods, etc., and the value of their statistics will not be included in the total value of the national import and export goods trade statistics.

Contents of customs statistical items

The original data of customs statistical data is the customs declaration form and other relevant documents of import and export goods confirmed by the customs, including the following contents:

1. Product name and code

2. Quantity and price

3. Business unit

4. Trade mode

5. Mode of transportation

6. Country of origin (region), country of departure (region) and domestic destination of import and export goods

7. Final destination country (region), destination country (region) and domestic source of export goods

8. Date of import and export

9. Close

10. Other statistical items stipulated by the General Administration of Customs
