How will China's foreign trade decompress in 2023 as foreign demand weakens? Huacheng Import an

2023-02-15

According to Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation, in 2022, China's foreign trade withstood many pressures and achieved stable growth. Analysts here believe that although there will be more challenges next year, China's time-tested foreign trade is still expected to stabilize and improve, driving the overall economic recovery.

At present, China's foreign trade as a whole is running smoothly. According to Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation, China's total import and export value in the first 11 months was 38.34 trillion yuan, up 8.6% year on year. Among them, export was 21.84 trillion yuan, up 11.9% year on year; Import reached 16.5 trillion yuan, up 4.6%; The trade surplus expanded by 42.8%. This year, the scale of China's foreign trade has reached a new record, and there is little doubt.

China's domestic epidemic prevention policy continued to be optimized. As China has shifted its focus to putting the economy back on track, local governments have sent business delegations overseas in an effort to make up for the decline in export orders and foreign investment caused by the reduction of contact with the outside world in the past three years. Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation reported.

In the past period of time, government officials and exporters and manufacturers from major export provinces such as Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Guangdong, as well as strong economic provinces such as Sichuan and Shandong, went overseas to participate in trade fairs, and established new economic and trade ties in Europe, the Middle East, other Asian countries and Africa.

For most of them, this is the first overseas travel since the COVID-19 outbreak.

The openness of the national policy has made exporters find that it is better to take the initiative to go abroad to find potential customers than to wait for the government to take action.

"From the central government to the local government, local officials are warmly encouraging export companies to negotiate overseas to attract more export orders."
