National Health Commission: China's main health indicators rank among the forefront of middle-

The spokesperson of the National Health Commission of China Mi Feng recently pointed out in Sanming, Fujian that the health of Chinese residents has continued to improve, with major health indicators ranking among the top middle and high-income countries.

The Secretariat of the Medical Reform Leading Group of the State Council of China and the National Health Commission held a press conference in Sanming City, Fujian Province on the same day to introduce Sanming's medical reform experience. Mi Feng made the above statement at the press conference.

Mi Feng said that the health level of Chinese residents has continued to improve. The average life expectancy has increased to 77.3 years. The maternal and infant mortality rates have dropped to 16.9 per 100,000 and 5.4 per 1,000, respectively. The main health indicators are among the top middle and high-income countries. .

China's medical service capabilities have continued to improve. A number of national and regional medical centers and high-level key specialties have been supported and developed. 84% of county-level hospitals have reached the level of second-level or above hospitals. The telemedicine collaboration network covers all prefecture-level cities.

The construction of China's public health and emergency response system has continued to strengthen. Smallpox has been completely eliminated, polio and malaria have been eliminated, and leprosy, filariasis and schistosomiasis have been basically eliminated. The incidence of major infectious diseases has dropped significantly, and the plague has been successfully prevented and responded to. Sudden epidemics such as human infection with bird flu have withstood the major test of the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

Mi Feng also said that China has continued to deepen the reform of the medical and health system. The systems of hierarchical diagnosis and treatment, modern hospital management, universal medical insurance, drug supply guarantee, and comprehensive supervision have been continuously improved, and the basic medical and health system framework with Chinese characteristics serving all people has basically been established.
