South Korea's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy revealed on the 5th that the export value of South Korea's bio-health industry reached US$9.25 billion in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 20.2%, setting a record for the export scale of bio-health industry in the first half of the year.
As the main export industry of South Korea, biological health has maintained a year-on-year growth momentum for seven consecutive months since December last year. Among them, the increase in demand for biosimilars and diagnostic equipment led to the growth of exports of the bio-health industry, and overall pharmaceutical exports also increased by 36.1% year-on-year to US$5.582 billion. Industry insiders believe that although many people predict that exports of diagnostic equipment will drop significantly next year, related exports are likely to continue to grow due to the emergence of a new Omicron variant virus.
