Against the backdrop of a significant decline in exports of wood and wood products in the first four months of this year, many wood and handicraft companies hope to find more potential customers at the 2023 Vietnam International ASEAN Furniture and Handicrafts Furniture Accessories Exhibition (VIFA ASEAN 2023).

Chen Yulian, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Branch of the Vietnam Federation of Industry and Commerce, recently stated at the press conference of the 2023 ASEAN International Furniture and Handicrafts Furniture Accessories Exhibition that, in the face of national economic difficulties, an average of about 19000 enterprises exit the market every month. More than 80% of timber enterprises are affected, resulting in a decrease in operating income. Customs data shows that about 38% of enterprises expect to have stable order volume, while 20% expect a decrease in order volume.

According to customs data, in April 2023, Vietnam's exports of wood and wood products reached 1.2 billion US dollars, an increase of 5.5% month on month and a decrease of 24% compared to the same period in April 2022.
