Data show that the sales of building materials and home furnishing stores above designated size nationwide in April were 87.44 billion yuan, an increase of 12.86% month-on-month, an increase of 66.28% year-on-year, and an increase of 3.55% compared with the same period in 2019. Cumulative sales from January to April were 285.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 95.49%. The industry has returned to its pre-epidemic level. According to the China Building Materials Circulation Association, this also reflects the gradual emergence of my country's economic and social development after the epidemic. Policies such as expanding domestic demand and promoting consumption have further stimulated the vitality of the building materials and home furnishing market.
Judging from the BHI sub-indices, the "Employment Rate Index" had the first month-on-month increase in April, with an increase of 69.65 points, a month-on-month increase for three consecutive months. The "Manager Confidence Index" value was 192.21 points, an increase of 12.64 points month-on-month, and its absolute value was 69.68 (above 50 is optimistic about the market outlook, and below 50 is a weak market outlook), maintaining a high boom range.
According to the China Building Material Circulation Association, many pan-home furnishing companies listed on the A-share market in April announced their 2020 annual reports. The analysis of the annual reports showed that building materials and home furnishing stores were the most affected by the epidemic. One of the main reasons for the decline in revenue was the reduction in rent and service fees. The sharp drop in downstream traffic has made it difficult to operate traditional building materials and home furnishing stores. However, the epidemic has also accelerated the pace of industry transformation. The online and offline integration process of the industry has been significantly accelerated. In the future, brand-new smart stores that truly achieve omni-channel consumer experience scenarios are still the main direction of industry transformation.
At the same time, the China Building Materials Circulation Association recommends that enterprises base themselves on the fundamentals, seize the two major opportunities of green buildings and rural revitalization, and achieve high-quality leapfrog development of the industry.
