Slow delivery of hedgehog red sandalwood market has become the norm

September is about to pass, but the demand for raw materials from downstream manufacturers is still at a low level, and the once-popular red sandalwood has fallen into a long-term downturn. According to a survey conducted by a reporter from the Timber Kingdom, although few new products of Hedgehog red sandalwood have been introduced into the Chinese market this year, the stockholders still feel a certain amount of inventory pressure, and slow market delivery has become the norm.

At present, the price of hedgehog red sandalwood from Sierra Leone is reported to be 6500-7200 yuan/ton, while the price of hedgehog red sandalwood from Gambia and Mali is mainly concentrated around 8000-8500 yuan/ton.

Rubber wood market appears "double reduction" phenomenon

"Power curtailment" has also had a certain impact on the production and operation of rubber wood. It is understood that due to the decline in domestic demand, foreign prices have also declined. Under the dominance of the mentality of "buying up and not buying down", domestic timber merchants have weakened their enthusiasm for replenishment and ordering. At present, the price of 4/8 of Thai rubber wood in Guangdong market is reported to 4000-4200 yuan/cubic meter; the price of 5/8 is reported to 4650-4700 yuan/cubic meter.

New Zealand ports have a serious backlog of timber

According to the reporter's investigation, due to the severe epidemic situation, the signal of New Zealand's unblocking is not obvious. Under this circumstance, the timber backlog in New Zealand's ports is serious, and "cannot make life" has become the norm. In this regard, domestic timber merchants generally said that this is already expected. At present, the domestic supply and demand of softwood is still in a relatively balanced state, and the market has not panicked because of this, and the mood of maintaining stability is obvious.

Taicang Fuqiao Town promotes the renovation of the timber industry to demolish 123,000 square meters of illegal construction

Su News (Chief reporter Gu Zhimin in Taicang, trainee reporter Zhou Zhe) Since the beginning of this year, Fuqiao Town, Taicang City, has carried out the "big investigation, big rectification, and big improvement" action in accordance with the requirements of the "hundred-day action" for special rectification of the timber industry. Up to now, a total of 137 timber companies have been renovated, of which 22 were shut down and 115 were demolished, involving an area of 123,000 square meters of illegal construction.

In order to optimize the industrial structure and create a standardized and orderly industrial environment, Fuqiao Town has carried out a thorough investigation to ensure that the investigation should be done thoroughly and no dead ends are left. The town’s Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau combined village (community) through door-to-door visits, on-site inspections, on-site office work, etc., to sort out the “base book” of 147 timber companies to achieve “clear background and clear conditions”.

For the timber companies included in the remediation list, the staff visited and promoted door by door, issued reminders, and explained the relevant policies and significance of the timber industry remediation on the spot. While adhering to the guidance of the first, multi-departmental joint law enforcement has deepened special actions such as "263", "scattered pollution" and "331", and promoted the rectification and banning of illegal processing points in different areas.

For the timber enterprises that have been renovated, the village (community) is used as the basic unit to carry out the grid "look back" work to ensure that there is no resurgence, and to continuously improve the living environment.

Indonesia's container shortage affects timber exports

Indroyono Soesilo, chairman of the Indonesian Association of Forest Concession Enterprises (APHI), has issued a warning about the rapidly rising transportation costs because of the impact on the export of Indonesian timber products that are in great demand. He pointed out that the cost of transportation varies, but the most worrying thing is the cost of transportation to the United States. According to Indroyono, the solution involves the use of small container ships to ship to the importer’s vessel. He also said that it is also possible to use small bulk carriers to export directly to China.
