The International Forestry Research Center (a non-governmental organization cooperating with the government of Cameroon) recently released a report on Cameroon's timber export in 2021. In 2021, Cameroon exported more than 800000 cubic meters of logs, of which 97% went to the Asian market; 700000 cubic meters of sawn timber were exported, of which 40% went to the European market, and Asia and Africa accounted for 36% and 13% respectively. In 2021, the top three export markets of Kazakh timber are China, Belgium and Vietnam.
According to the report, Kazakh timber export enterprises generally evade taxes. Between 2010 and 2021, 32% of the 300 Kazakh timber export enterprises had a life span of only one year, but the enterprises only changed the company name to avoid tax tracking, or split into two or three enterprises, so as to reduce turnover and reduce taxes. Over the same period, an average of 28% of export enterprises exported for the "first time" every year, with a peak of 55% in 2018.
