The Rosberg forest products company, headquartered in Oregon, held a foundation laying ceremony at the new Roanoke Valley sawmill in Weldon, North Carolina on May 24. The company announced that it planned to expand its business in the southeast of the United States and build a 375000 square foot high-capacity multi-dimensional timber plant at an event of North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper last summer.
Since the first announcement, a lot of preparatory work has been done in the 200 acre Roanoke Valley timber farm (the predecessor of the Roanoke Valley energy facility) to prepare for the construction. Roseburg has entered into a contract with bid group to design, construct and equip the sawmill complex. The plant is expected to create more than 135 jobs in the first two years.
Speakers for the foundation laying ceremony included representatives of Rosberg, mayor of Weldon Hugh credle, President of Halifax horizon, Vernon J.Bryant, chairman of Halifax County Committee, and representative Michael Wray of North Carolina.
"Since 2017, Rosberg has been the largest private woodland owner in the Roanoke Valley, with nearly 200000 acres of woodland in North Carolina and Virginia." Said adamreed, manager of the Roanoke Valley lumber mill. "This new sawmill promotes Roanoke's vertical integration strategy from the west coast to the southeast - owning trees and processing facilities. This reflects our long-term commitment to the Roanoke region and welcomes us to join."
"Today's breakthrough is an important milestone not only for Rosberg forest products, but also for Weldon." Hughcredle, mayor of Weldon, commented. "We are laying the foundation for the development of Roanoke forest products and Weldon Town, and have established a huge partnership in the next few years."
Vernon Bryant, chairman of Halifax County Committee, said: "we are very happy to share with you this important milestone of the roseboro knock Valley timber project. Since the project was announced, the company has had a positive impact. Their management team has moved here, purchased houses, supported local enterprises, etc. This is the way we develop Halifax County and improve the quality of life."
North Carolina congressman Michael ray added: "the Roanoke Valley timber in Rosberg is a successful example of Halifax County and North Carolina. The project is a perfect example of the state working closely with local communities to bring sustainable manufacturing employment and investment to North Carolina."
Rosberg currently has 13 manufacturing plants in North America, including the second largest short wood plantation plant in the United States in Dillard, Oregon.
