From January to March 2022, there were 451 companies in the German furniture industry, with a turnover of about 4.8 billion euros and an industry wide export rate of 32.24%. This means that about one third of German furniture is sold abroad. Among them, the export rate of German kitchen furniture products is higher, more than 40% of the products are sold abroad, and China is the largest kitchen furniture export market in Germany except Europe.

According to the data released by the German Kitchen Furniture Industry Association, from January to March 2022, 51 companies in the German kitchen furniture industry created a turnover of about 1.6 billion euros. At present, the export rate of the whole kitchen furniture industry is 43.83%. The industry is mainly medium-sized enterprises, with an average size of 359 employees.

According to the internal survey data of the German Kitchen Furniture Industry Association, in March 2022, the total orders received by the kitchen furniture industry increased by 20.23% over the previous year. German domestic orders increased by 32.93% and foreign orders increased by 6.74%. In March, 2022, the German kitchen furniture industry increased by about 609million euros, an increase of 17.94% over the same period last year.

However, the economic situation in April was significantly depressed, and the business expectation in the next six months is expected to be significantly more negative. In March, 2022, the number of employees in the kitchen furniture industry increased by 6.24% to 18410; The working hours of workers increased by 1.98% over the previous year.

From January to December 2021, the export of German kitchen furniture products increased by 17.48%. The most important export market is France, followed by the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium and Switzerland. The most important kitchen furniture export market of Germany outside Europe is China, with a year-on-year growth of 2.50% in 2021.

At the same time, more kitchen furniture will be imported into the German market in 2021, with an increase of 48.34%. The top five major import markets of German kitchen furniture in 2021 are Poland, Italy, China, Austria and Lithuania. Among them, China has the fastest growth rate, with a year-on-year increase of 108.90%, far exceeding Poland, Italy, Austria, Lithuania and other countries.
