Kazakhstan extends ban on some timber exports

From June 8, 2022, the export of certain types of wood will be banned. Restrictions are essential for the development of the wood processing industry and for preventing illegal re-exports of wood from Kazakhstan, according to a reporter from the Kapital.kz business information center at the press service of the Government Revenue Committee.

The ban was implemented by the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Decree No. 322 of June 7, 2022, "On the Control of Exports of Certain Types of Timber," which came into force on June 8, 2022.

The order, which is valid for 6 months, provides for the prohibition of the export of certain types of timber from the territory of Kazakhstan (commodity codes 4401, 4403, 4404, 4406 and 4407), commodity code 440691000 "Dipping softwood sleepers for railways or or tram lines except for impregnated wood.

Previously, the ban stipulated by Decree No. 611 of November 23, 2021 "On Certain Timber Export Control Issues" came into effect from December 7, 2021 to June 7, 2022.
