In May, the retail sales of furniture was 12.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 12.2%, and the growth rate was 1.8 percentage points higher than that in April; the retail sales of construction and decoration materials was 15.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 7.8%, and the growth rate was 15.6 billion yuan. This is an increase of 3.9 percentage points from April.

Overall, from January to May, the total retail sales of consumer goods was 17,168.9 billion yuan, down 1.5% year-on-year; in May, the total retail sales of consumer goods was 3,354.7 billion yuan, down 6.7% year-on-year.

Fu Linghui, spokesman of the National Bureau of Statistics and director of the National Economic Comprehensive Statistics Department, said that in general, China's economy gradually overcame the adverse impact of the epidemic in May, and the main indicators improved marginally, and the economy showed a positive momentum of recovery.
