Vietnam extends anti-dumping investigation period on imported tables and chairs from China, Malaysia

In order to have more time to comprehensively and objectively review the relevant issues and opinions of all parties, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam has issued Decision No. 1621/QD-BCT to extend the The investigation period for the imposition of anti-dumping measures on certain table and chair products originating in Malaysia and China.

According to the decision, the Ministry of Industry and Trade decided to extend the investigation period of anti-dumping measures on certain table and chair products originating in Malaysia and China by 6 months, and the investigation period will end on March 1, 2023.

Previously, on September 1, 2021, Vietnam launched an anti-dumping duty investigation on table and chair products imported from China and Malaysia.

The customs codes of the products under investigation include: 9401.30.00; 9401.40.00; 9401.61.00; 9401.69.90; 9401.71.00; 90.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that in accordance with the provisions of the Trade Remedy Law, the Ministry will make an investigation decision based on the review results based on the investigation documents submitted by enterprises for anti-dumping measures.

According to the law, after an anti-dumping investigation is initiated, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam will send an anti-dumping questionnaire to relevant parties to collect information on the dumping behaviors of Chinese and Malaysian exporters; losses suffered by Vietnamese manufacturers; dumped imports and damage to domestic industries, etc. causality between correlations, etc.

If necessary, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam may, based on the preliminary investigation report of the Trade Remedy Bureau, take temporary anti-dumping measures to prevent further damage to the domestic industry caused by dumping.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will verify the information provided by relevant parties and make a final investigation conclusion on the case; at the same time, it will conduct public consultation to create opportunities for relevant parties to negotiate, provide information, and express their positions.
