According to customs data, from January to October 2022, my country's total exports of coated sheets (strips) totaled 4.6106 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14.14%. The export of coated strips in the central region has increased significantly, while the export of coated strips in the northern region has declined significantly. Below, the author makes a brief analysis of the export situation of coated strips over the years based on the export data of coated strips:

1. In October, the export of coated strips decreased month-on-month and year-on-year

According to customs data, export data in October 2022 have been released. In October 2022, the total export volume of my country's coated sheets (strips) totaled 381,900 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 4.51%, and a year-on-year decrease of 20.99%. decline.

From January to October 2022, the total export volume of my country's coated sheets (strips) totaled 4.6106 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14.14%. According to customs data, from January to October, only the export of coated strips achieved positive year-on-year growth in July. According to the monthly data, the export of coated strips has declined month-on-month for three consecutive months, which shows that the current export situation of coated strips is not optimistic.

2. The export of coated strips in the central region increased significantly

From the perspective of provincial data, the top three are still Shandong, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu. The export volume of coated strips in these three provinces accounts for 63.77% of the total export volume. Among the top five provinces, the exports of coated strips from January to July all declined, and the decline ranged from 11% to 29.78%.

It is worth noting that in 2022, the export of color-coated strips in the central region will perform well. Among them, Jiangxi, Hunan, and Hubei are among the top ten in terms of import and export.

Among the top ten export provinces, Hubei recorded the largest increase. According to customs data, the year-on-year increase was 621% from January to October. The export volume from January to October was 156,000 tons, compared with less than 30,000 tons in the same period last year. At the same time, Jiangxi also performed well, ranking sixth, with a year-on-year increase of 303%.

As one of the important provinces in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei——Tianjin, exports have experienced a sharp decline, with a year-on-year decline of as much as 55.16%, barely squeezed out of the top ten exports. The changes in the export rankings of major provinces show that the central region has huge development potential, and major steel mills and exporters need to take it seriously.

From the perspective of country-by-country data, the Philippines' export volume has grown steadily in the past three years, especially in 2022, and has become the country with the largest export volume of my country's coated strips from January to October 2022. In 2020-2021, South Korea, the number one exporter of my country's coated strips, will see a sharp drop in export volume in 2022.

In 2021, 498,900 tons of coated strips will be exported to South Korea, compared with 920,000 tons in 2020, a year-on-year decrease of 45.78%. From January to October 2022, the top five export countries of my country's coated strips are the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, Indonesia and Vietnam, and as of October, only the Philippines exported more than 400,000 tons, and the rest were all 300,000 tons Ton or less.

According to the current data, among the top five exporting countries, only the Philippines will achieve positive year-on-year growth in 2022, and other countries may all have a certain decline.

3. In 2022, the export of coated strips may show the largest drop in the past five years

Since 2014, my country's coated strip exports have exceeded 6 million tons. Among them, the total export of coated strips in 2016 was the highest in the past 10 years, 7.5799 million tons, and the export of coated strips declined significantly in the following two years. In 2018, my country's coated strips exported 6.04 million tons, but they also held 6 million mark.

In the past three years, the export of my country's coated strips has exceeded 6.4 million tons. From January to October, the cumulative export of my country's coated strips was 4.61 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14.44%. And it is understood that according to the actual order situation of steel mills, the data in November and December may perform worse.

If calculated based on the monthly export volume of 450,000 tons in the next two months, the export of coated strips in 2022 will only be 5.51 million tons, and the expected drop will be 14.57%, which may be the largest drop in the past five years.

The current situation at home and abroad is gradually changing. More and more companies are deploying color-coated products, and the market competition is becoming more and more fierce. The export volume of coated sheets and strips is basically more than 20% of the annual output of prepainted sheets and coils, and the quality of exports is also directly related to the overall consumption of prepainted sheets and coils.

With the continuous development of the central region, the export volume of late-coated strips may be even more impressive, which deserves everyone's attention. In terms of exporting countries, the top exporters of my country's coated strips are mainly in East Asia and Southeast Asia. However, in recent years, the export volume of major countries has also undergone major changes, and specific changes need to be paid attention to.

The total export volume, according to customs data, my country's coated strip export is expected to be 5.51 million tons in 2022, which is expected to drop by more than 14% year-on-year, or become the largest drop in five years.
