The customs data show that the railway timber transport in Russia is decreasing from January to November.

The decrease of timber transportation has also been found on other routes. According to customs data, from January to November, the cross Baikal Lake railway reduced the volume of timber transportation by 17.2% to 201700 tons, and the Far East railway decreased by 10% to 3 million tons. The loading of wood products at the stations across the Baikal Lake border area also decreased by 14.1% to 1613000 tons; Amur State decreased by 8.7% to 2.943 million tons; The coastal border area decreased by 15.7% to 730000 tons.

According to customs data, in November this year, the transportation of fertilizer, ore, metal, oil, especially timber, was in a loss state, with the transportation volume in the west reduced by 75%. According to customs data, from the perspective of timber exports in November this year alone, the quantity of timber products delivered through the checkpoint in the Far East Federal District decreased by 8% month on month and 10.3% year on year.

In addition, according to the data collected from IPEM (Institute of Natural Monopoly: an independent research center in the field of infrastructure and related economic sectors in Russia), it is expected that the trend of decline will also be maintained in December, which is expected to reach - 4%.

At the same time, IPEM experts also predicted the main indicators of the Russian railway industry in 2023: by 2023, the transport volume of bulk commodities, including timber, grain, mineral metals, oil, etc., is expected to decline by 3-4.8% compared with 2022. This will also reduce the output of freight cars from 43000 to 48000.
