The secretariat of the Tool Branch of the China Machine Tool Industry Association collected and sorted out the customs data of the import and export of tools (tools, measuring tools, gauges) in 2022, and calculated and analyzed them for the reference of the industry.

1. Export of measuring tools and instruments in 2022

According to customs data, the export volume of measuring tools and instruments in 2022 was 1.619 billion yuan, up 12.15% year on year. Among them, the export value of measuring tools (micrometers, calipers and gauges) was 1.278 billion yuan, up 9.33% year on year; The export value of measuring instruments (coordinate measuring instruments, contour projectors) was 341 million yuan, up 24.17% year on year. The export classification of measuring tools and instruments in 2022 is shown in Figure 1.

2. Import of measuring tools and instruments in 2022

According to customs data, the import of measuring tools and instruments in 2022 was 1.322 billion yuan, down 11.42% year on year. Among them, the import of measuring tools was 313 million yuan, an increase of 0.33% year on year, and the import of measuring instruments (coordinate measuring instruments, customs data, contour projectors) was 1.009 billion yuan, a decrease of 14.53% year on year. The import classification of measuring tools and instruments in 2022 is shown in Figure 2.

3. Comparison of import and export unit prices of measuring tools and instruments

Compared with products with the same commodity code, the price of imported measuring tools and instruments is much higher than the export price.

The export value of measuring tools (1.278 billion yuan) is far greater than the import value (313 million yuan), and the export value of measuring instruments (341 million yuan) is far less than the import value (1.009 billion yuan). The export of measuring tools and measuring instruments increased while the import decreased.

The customs data is classified according to the customs import and export commodity code, which is not completely consistent with the industry custom classification. The products listed in the table may not completely include all tool products, or may include products that do not belong to the tool industry. In the attached table, when calculating the unit price of products, the unit of circular saw blade, blade and band saw blade is kg, and the unit of other products is pieces.
