2023-03-27

In the first two months of 2023, the export slowdown slowed down and the import decline expanded. On the one hand, the domestic epidemic situation has been stable since the beginning of the year, and the release of backlog of foreign trade orders affected by the epidemic at the end of last year has boosted the export performance of this period; On the other hand, weak external demand and increased uncertainty in the external environment have left global inflation at a high level. The weakening of the growth momentum of the world economy and trade has become a difficult point in the development of foreign trade.

According to customs data, the total import and export value of China in the first two months of 2023 was 895.72 billion US dollars, down 8.3%. Among them, exports reached US $506.3 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 6.8%; Imports amounted to US $389.42 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 10.2%; The trade surplus was US $116.88 billion.

Specifically, in the internal combustion engine industry, the overall performance of imports and exports was stable, with export growth higher than imports.

According to customs data, from January to February 2023, the total import and export volume of the internal combustion engine industry was 4.747 billion US dollars, with a year-on-year increase of 0.45%. According to customs data, imports reached 1.223 billion US dollars, up -10.47% year-on-year; Exports reached US $3.524 billion, up 4.89% year-on-year.

In the amount of imports, except for the year-on-year growth of internal combustion engines used for generating sets, all other categories have decreased, while the decline in gasoline engines is still significant. Specifically, from January to February 2023, the import of diesel engines reached US $128 million, a year-on-year increase of -4.60%; The import of gasoline engines reached US $80 million, a year-on-year increase of - 26.79%; The import of other types of complete machines reached 406 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of -0.53%; The import of internal combustion engine parts and components reached US $540 million, with a year-on-year increase of - 18.64%; The import of generator sets reached US $69 million, a year-on-year increase of 35.91%.

According to customs data, in the export amount, except for gasoline engines and other types of complete machines, all other sub categories increased year-on-year. Specifically, from January to February 2023, diesel engine exports reached 193 million US dollars, up 3.70% year-on-year; According to customs data, gasoline engine exports totaled $225 million, up -15.17% year-on-year; The export of other types of complete machines reached US $411 million, a year-on-year increase of -8.57%; The export of internal combustion engine parts reached 1.782 billion US dollars, up 3.97% year-on-year; The export of generator sets reached US $913 million, a year-on-year increase of 22.58%.
