The mayor of Moscow issued a statement on state media on August 6, stating that from January to May 2021, Russia’s exports of medical equipment increased 2.1 times, setting a record high for the same period.
"Compared with the same period in previous years, Russia’s exports of medical equipment in the first five months of this year have achieved an amazing growth, with an export value of 22.34 million U.S. dollars, which is more than double that of 10.33 million U.S. dollars in the same period last year. The export value of medical equipment at US$11.72 million increased by 90.6% compared to that.” said Vladimir Yefimov, deputy mayor of Moscow.

Quoting an earlier statement by Alexander Prokhorov, the head of Moscow’s investment and industrial policy department, from January to May this year, Russian manufacturers exported medical equipment to 81 countries around the world, of which Kazakhstan is the country with the largest purchase volume. A large number of Russian medical equipment was exported to Uzbekistan (a total of approximately US$2.43 million), the Netherlands (US$2.24 million), India (US$2.18 million) and Belarus (US$1.1 million). Mexico, Bangladesh, Ecuador, Nepal, Qatar and Norway have also become importers of Moscow this year. In total, Moscow's exports of medical equipment to these markets exceeded $187,000.
