The China Patent Award is jointly sponsored by the State Intellectual Property Office of China and the World Intellectual Property Organization. It is the only government department award in China that specifically rewards inventions and creations with patent rights, and is recognized by the United Nations World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The "China Patent Award" focuses on strengthening the creation, protection and application of intellectual property rights, promoting high-quality economic development, and encouraging and commending patentees and inventors (designers) who have made outstanding contributions to technological (design) innovation and economic and social development.

The China Patent Award adopts the project recommendation method, which is recommended to the State Intellectual Property Office by the relevant departments and units of the State Council for the management of intellectual property work, the intellectual property offices (intellectual property management agencies) of all provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), and relevant national industry associations.

On April 15, 2022, after the review and public announcement of the China Patent Award Review Committee, the State Intellectual Property Office and the World Intellectual Property Organization issued the award decision, granting 30 invention and utility model patents China Patent Gold Award; 10 design patents China Gold Medal for Design; Silver Medal for Chinese Patents for 60 Inventions and Utility Model Patents; Silver Medal for Chinese Patents for 15 Patents for Design; 792 Excellence Awards for Inventions and Utility Model Patents in China;

In this selection activity, 15 patents of 15 member companies of China General Machinery Industry Association won the "China Patent Award". As a national industry association of general machinery industry, China General Machinery Industry Association is a recommended unit of China Patent Award recognized by the State Intellectual Property Office. Two of the three patents recommended by the China Communication Association this year won awards. Among them, Shenyang Turbomachinery Co., Ltd. recommended for the selection of "super-large and overweight rotor assembly method with three-stage spindle" (ZL201711049041.X), Jiangsu Shentong Valve Co., Ltd. "A Ball Valve Seat Structure" (ZL201410330033.2) won the China Patent Excellence Award.
