In the first quarter of 2021, the United States imported 64.91 million tires, an increase of 11.6% year-on-year. Among them, passenger car tire imports decreased slightly by 0.1% year-on-year to 35.78 million; truck and bus tire imports increased by 21.6% year-on-year to 12.51 million; aircraft tires decreased by 26% year-on-year to 48,000; motorcycle tires increased by 3% year-on-year to 850,000; bicycle tires increased by 36% year-on-year to 2.69 million.
In the first quarter, the United States imported 12.43 million tires from China, an increase of 54.7% year-on-year. Among them, passenger car tires increased by 132% year-on-year to 890,000; truck and bus tires increased by 42% year-on-year to 560,000.
In the first quarter, the United States imported 12.49 million tires from Thailand, down 7% year-on-year. Among them, passenger car tires were 7.43 million, down 16.3% year-on-year; truck and bus tires were 3.29 million, down 1.7% year-on-year.
Thailand and China are the main importers of American tires.
