European and American tire prices spread to July

On May 31, Trelleborg, the world’s leading manufacturer of specialty tires, announced that starting from June 1, the tires of all its brands (Trelleborg/Mitas/Cultor/Maximo) and market segments will rise by 8%. In January of this year, Trelleborg raised its global sales price by approximately 5%. In addition to tires, the price of rims for Trelleborg Wheel Systems has also risen, with an increase of up to 20%.

International tire giants such as Michelin, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Sumitomo Rubber, Hankook, and Yokohama have also announced price increases before this.

Pirelli Tire North America said it will increase tire prices on July 1. The price of passenger car and light truck tires will increase by 6%, depending on the production line and tire size.

On the same day, Michelin North America also announced that it will raise prices for the third time this year. Replacement tires for passenger cars and light trucks under the Michelin and BFGoodrich brands in the United States and Canada will increase by 6%. In addition, road and off-road commercial vehicle tires will increase by 13%, and both price increases will take effect on July 1.

Bridgestone announced that starting from July 1, 2021, truck and bus tire prices in the European market will increase. The price increase brands are Bridgestone, Firestone, and Dayton. In May, Bridgestone has already carried out a wave of price increases in the United States and Canada.

Hankook has also issued a price increase notice for the European tire market. Since July 1, 2021, the price of passenger car tires will increase, and the extent of the price increase has not been disclosed.

Goodyear announced that it will once again increase the price of all passenger tires in North America from June 1, 2021. Carrier tires (Kelly) and Dunlop tires will also continue to increase their prices in North America, an increase of about 8%.

Since November 1, 2020, Yokohama passenger car tires have increased by 5%; on December 1, 2020, some commercial truck/bus tires have increased by up to 6%.

According to statistics, from May 1st, the prices of most passenger and commercial vehicle tires in the United States have increased by 6%; on May 1, the prices of "non-winter" passenger and light truck tires in Canada have also increased similarly. It is worth noting that in just two months, many manufacturers have increased their prices twice or even three times in a row, with the increase of more than 10% superimposed. Most tire manufacturers explained that the reason for the price increase is the rising raw material prices, logistics transportation and labor costs. .
