Evonik has launched a new line of almost fully sustainable liquid polybutadiene Polyvest eCO series, certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC).
Evonik said in a statement on June 22 that the Polyvest eCO series has been proven to reduce the use of fossil raw materials by 99.9%. The new grade has "the same physicochemical properties" as the fossil product and can be used as a replacement.
Furthermore, based on their characteristic microstructure, all Polyvest grades exhibit "excellent reactivity" for a wide range of applications in the automotive industry or tire and rubber compounds. And, for customers, the biggest advantage is that there is no need to adjust their existing formulations.
Under the general trend of environmental protection and green, fossil raw materials are being replaced by alternative raw materials (including biological agricultural sources, biological waste-driven materials and recycled raw materials). According to Evonik, there are few easier ways to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
According to Dr. Jürgen Herwig, head of the Polyvest business, the demand for efficient and environmentally friendly products continues to increase. Polyvest eCO will be further developed to continuously support the transition to a circular and bioeconomy.
Evonik produces liquid polybutadiene at its ISCC Plus certified plant in Marr, Germany. Meet the demands of the "growing sustainable market" with this eco-series.
