Recently, the statistical import and export data released by the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association showed that the import volume of Brazilian chemical products in July increased by 5.1% year-on-year, while the consumption increased by only 0.4% year-on-year.
According to import and export data, that month, the output of high value-added chemical products in Brazil increased by 2.98% year-on-year, and domestic sales increased by 0.99% year-on-year. The utilization rate of chemical products equipment reached 68%, a year-on-year increase of 2 percentage points. Import and export data show that the import volume of chemical products increased by 8.4% year-on-year. The average price of chemical products in the domestic market in the month increased by 0.26% year-on-year, and in June increased by 0.04% year-on-year.
Import and export data also show that in the first seven months of this year, the price of chemical products in Brazil’s domestic market increased by 1.4% year-on-year, the output increased by 0.05% year-on-year, the sales volume increased by 1.03% year-on-year, and the export volume of chemical products increased by 4.8% year-on-year. According to the import and export data observation report, in the first seven months of this year, the domestic market share of imported chemical products dropped from 45% in the same period last year to 42%, a decrease of 3 percentage points.
Fátima Giovanna Coviello Ferreira, director of the economic strategy department of the association, pointed out that Brazil's economic growth exceeded expectations in the second quarter of this year, which is conducive to the upward revision of the growth of Brazil's chemical sector.
