Recently, the General Administration of Customs released the export data of phosphoric acid in August 2022. On the whole, the export volume in August decreased significantly compared with that in July, but continued to increase compared with the same period last year. According to customs data, the export volume of food-grade phosphoric acid in August 2022 was 39,100 tons, the export value was US$56,492,975, and the average export price was US$1,446.17/ton, a decrease of US$200.05/ton from the previous month. The export volume decreased by 12.15% month-on-month and increased by 33.78% year-on-year in August last year.

In August 2022, the export volume of the phosphoric acid market will decline significantly. The main purchasing countries and regions in August were Thailand, Indonesia and South Korea, ranking the top three. According to customs data, Thailand purchased 10,025.81 tons, accounting for 25.67% of the month’s total exports; Indonesia purchased 3,709.6 tons, accounting for 9.50% of the month’s total exports; South Korea purchased 2,186.60 tons, accounting for 5.60% of the month’s total exports. The top three accounted for 40.76% of the total export volume.

From the point of view of the place of enterprise registration, the top four export provinces in August 2022 are still Guizhou Province, Jiangsu Province, Yunnan Province and Chongqing City. According to customs data, the export volume of Guizhou Province was 16,398.83 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 24.16%, accounting for 39.42% of the total export volume; the export volume of Jiangsu Province was 8,026.14 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 41.65%, accounting for 20.55% of the total export volume; According to customs data, the export volume of Yunnan Province was 5139.52 tons, an increase of 7.29% from the previous month, accounting for 13.16% of the total export volume of the month; the export volume of Chongqing City was 4478.56 tons, a decrease of 32.72% from the previous month, accounting for 11.46% of the total export volume of the month.

Phosphoric acid export analysis

According to customs data, the export volume of phosphoric acid in August will be at a low position in 2022. Except for the poor export volume affected by the Spring Festival holiday in January and February, the export volume in August fell below 40,000 tons for the first time. However, compared with the same period last year, it has maintained a good upward trend in recent months.

In August, affected by high temperature production and power restrictions in Sichuan, enterprises stopped production in a large area, resulting in a reduction in market supply. In particular, the supply of wet-process purified acid has been significantly reduced due to the shutdown of the Weng Fudazhou plant. Until September, the supply of wet-process purified acid was still very tight. Therefore, phosphoric acid manufacturers need to ensure a certain amount of domestic demand while shipping export orders in August, so the export volume has decreased. After the fourth quarter, with the increase in production, the supply will gradually increase, and we are still optimistic about the export situation in the fourth quarter.
