Import and export data show that after the RCEP takes effect, the Philippines' tariff will be reduced from 15% to zero, With the RCEP Certificate of origin, it is estimated that 375000 tariff preferences can be enjoyed in the Philippines.
RCEP is currently the world's largest free trade agreement with the largest population coverage, the largest economic and trade scale, and the most potential for development. This year is the second year for RCEP to come into effect, with 14 out of the 15 member states successively taking effect. As the 15th member state, the Philippines has taken effect, which is of great significance. According to import and export data, Guangxi's imports and exports to the Philippines reached 9.41 billion yuan in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 128.4%. Among them, exports reached 7.21 billion, an increase of 365%. RCEP will take effect in the Philippines, further deepening economic and trade cooperation between China and the Philippines, unleashing greater potential for foreign trade between the two countries, ushering in new opportunities for regional industrial development, and benefiting enterprises more significantly.
According to import and export data, under RCEP, the Philippines has added zero tariff treatment to China's automobiles and parts, some plastic products, textile and clothing, glass and products, air conditioning, washing machines, and other products on the basis of the China ASEAN Free Trade Area. After a certain transitional period, the tariffs on the aforementioned products will gradually be reduced to zero. On the basis of the China ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, China will also reduce taxes on pineapple juice and canned products, coconut juice, pepper, and some chemical products produced in the Philippines, and further open up the market. According to the import and export data, since the RCEP came into effect until April this year, Nanning Customs issued 775 RCEP Certificate of origin and self issued declarations of origin by enterprises, involving 432 million goods, mainly new energy vehicles, agricultural products, chemicals, paper products, bamboo, wood and grass household products.
