According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to August 2021, the national production of machine-made paper and paperboard was 90.211 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.8%. In August, the national production of machine-made paper and paperboard was 11.482 million tons, an increase of 1.8% year-on-year.

From January to August 2021, the national newsprint output was 643,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.3%. In August, the output of newsprint was 64,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 10.6%. It has fallen by more than 10% for three consecutive months.
