According to the Bureau of Statistics, India's exports of paper and cardboard grew by nearly 80% as of May 31, 2022, reaching the highest level in the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
In terms of export value, the export of coated paper and cardboard increased by 100%, non-coated writing and printing paper increased by 98%, toilet paper increased by 75%, and kraft paper increased by 37%.
India's paper exports have been on the rise for the past five years. In terms of export volume, India's paper exports quadrupled from 0.66 million tons in the first quarter to 2.85 million tons in the 22nd quarter.
Mr. Rohit Pandit, Secretary General of the Indian Paper Manufacturers Association (ipma), said that India's exports have been growing since 2017-2018 due to the expansion of the production capacity of Indian paper mills and technological upgrades to improve the quality of their products, Widely acclaimed worldwide.
