As the first ISO international standard in my country's packaging field, this standard fills the gap in this field and marks a major breakthrough in my country's international standardization work in the field of packaging.
The internationalization of Chinese standards helps the global trade of steel strips for packaging
With the continuous advancement of the industrialization process and the continuous improvement of the level of automatic bundling of goods, the steel belt for packaging has been widely used in the fields of steel, non-ferrous metals, wood, glass, textile and chemical industry due to its good appearance quality and excellent mechanical properties. Gradually accepted and applied by relevant enterprises. In 2008, while successfully replacing imported products, domestic steel belts for packaging successfully went abroad. The products were sold to dozens of countries around the world, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, Vietnam, and Peru. "Made in China" began to occupy the international market.
However, while the steel belt industry for packaging is booming, the problem of lack of international standards has gradually emerged. Since the parameter setting of various items of steel strip products for packaging, the quality control of the production process and the testing process mainly rely on the standards of various countries, the effective docking of technical parameters cannot be achieved. The current national standard for packaging steel strips in my country is GB/T 25820-2018 "Steel strips for packaging", and the international standards for packaging steel strips include American ASTM D3953-15 Standard Specification for Strapping, Flat Steel and Seals, and EU EN 13246: 2001 Packaging -Specification for tensional steel strapping. National standards also have different definitions of project parameters such as mechanical property grades, elongation measurement gauge lengths, and dimensional tolerances of steel strips for packaging. Taking the elongation measurement gauge length as an example, the national standard GB/T25820-2018 specifies 30mm gauge length, the American ASTM D3953-15 specifies 152.4mm, and the EU EN 13246:2001 specifies 100mm.
This has brought great inconvenience to both sides of the trade. The formulation of a unified international standard for packaging steel belts is of great significance to the global trade of packaging steel belt products!
The international standard officially released this time is based on my country's national standards, combined with the technological development of packaging steel belts and international market demand, and is guided by practical applications. On the basis of core technical requirements such as bending, anti-corrosion and packaging, standard technical indicators and corresponding test methods are determined.
The most significant achievement of this standard is to solve the long-controversial issue of the initial gauge length for elongation testing (30mm in China, 100mm in the EU, and 152.4mm in the United States) in the field of international packaging steel strips. Through a large amount of data demonstration and practical support, and after discussions by experts from various countries, in order to better meet the quality control of steel strip products for packaging, the international standard finally adopts Lo=30mm, which is consistent with the domestic standard, as the initial gauge length for elongation measurement.
The unification of the adoption standards will help my country's packaging steel belt products to better "go global", promote the global trade of packaging steel belts, and the overall development of the international packaging steel belt industry will also step onto a new level from now on.

The company is also the first in China to use non-quenching and tempering technology to produce high-strength packaging steel strips instead of imports, breaking the foreign monopoly on the packaging steel strip market. At present, the company's product sales area covers hundreds of large domestic enterprises, and at the same time exports to dozens of countries such as the United States, Britain, Italy, Spain, Japan, and South Korea.
As a leader in the industry, Anshan Falan attaches great importance to standard work and has become my country's first "Steel Belt for Packaging" YB/T025-2002 industry standard, the current national "Steel Belt for Packaging" standard in Chinese and English, and the national "Steel Belt for Packaging". Faced with the current situation that the lack of international standards drags down international trade, Anshan Falan in the competitive international arena decided to take up the heavy responsibility of the industry, taking international standards as the bullseye and shooting the "arrow of China" - to formulate an internationally accepted standard for packaging steel strips!
At the beginning of 2019, Anshan Falan and the Metallurgical Industry Information Standards Research Institute proposed a new work project for the international standard of "Steel Strips for Packaging", which was reviewed by the ISO/TC122 domestic technical counterpart China Packaging Federation, and the proposed materials met the national industrial policies and declaration requirements. Submit to the National Standardization Administration for review and approval.
In June of the same year, organized by China Packaging Federation, Metallurgical Industry Information Standards Research Institute and Anshan Falan sent staff to attend the ISO/TC122 plenary meeting held in Stockholm, Sweden. As the project representative, Wang Endong, general manager of Anshan Falan, introduced the market situation of steel strip products for packaging, comparative analysis of domestic and foreign standards, and international standard proposals at the meeting, which laid the foundation for the smooth project establishment.
On July 17 of the same year, the project was officially approved by the International Organization for Standardization Packaging Technology Committee (ISO/TC122), and the ISO/TC122/WG17 working group was established to carry out standard formulation work. Wang Endong, general manager of Anshan Falan, served as the project leader. Li Qian of the Information Standards Institute served as the convener of the working group.
On May 15, 2020, the online meeting of the Metal Packaging Working Group of the ISO/TC122/WG17 Metalpackaging International Organization for Standardization Packaging Technology Committee was successfully held. The person in charge of the ISO24259 "Steel Strips for Packaging" project introduced the draft standard, and the participating experts conducted detailed discussions on the draft standard and the opinions collected in the early stage. The international standard ISO24259 "Steel Strips for Packaging" proposed by my country has been successfully advanced to the Committee Voting (CD) stage.
On May 23, 2022, with the strong support of the domestic technical counterpart China Packaging Federation and the joint efforts of domestic and foreign experts, this international standard led by Anshan Falan finally reached a consensus on the technical content and was successfully released. .
The successful release of this international standard has strengthened my country's ability to take the lead in formulating international standards, provided scientific guidance for promoting continuous breakthroughs in my country's international standardization work, and improving my country's voice and influence in international standardization work. Really "going out" has played a leading role. Anshan Falan, which has successfully hit the international standard "bull's eye", will also take this opportunity to assume greater responsibility in the global packaging field, aim at higher goals, and make greater contributions!
