European countries upgrade recycled paper and cardboard into "raw materials"

2022-08-19

Many European countries are striving to "turn waste into treasure" by upgrading recycled paper and cardboard into "raw materials". After Italy and Spain, France also issued new regulations at the end of last year to join the environmental movement of using recycled materials.

According to a report by Radio France on February 14, in addition to recycling waste paper for upgrading, another new regulation was implemented in France in early January this year. Vegetables and fruits weighing less than 1.5 kg are not allowed to use plastic packaging.

The practice of turning waste paper into raw materials has brought many beneficial effects to European countries such as France. One is easy to export. Much more recycled paper and cardboard is produced in France than is consumed, as does the UK. The upgraded waste paper is not only sent to all over Europe, but also exported to India or Indonesia. Second, it is conducive to environmental protection, and the energy consumption of recycled paper and cardboard will be lower. Third, the use of recycled materials is growing and prices are more competitive.
