P&G and Dow Innovative Express Packaging Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation Report

2022-12-13

According to the Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation Report, P&G and Dow jointly launched the first new e-commerce package that has won the Shuangyi certification - "Air Capsule" express package. It is innovatively developed by P&G and made of Dow materials.

"Air Capsule" uses innovative packaging structure and material structure design, and Dow ELITTMAT high-performance resin is used in the materials. This express package is made of a single recyclable material without the need for cartons, fillers and tape. In addition, while enhancing the pressure resistance, it has reduced the packaging weight by 40%, which is a 100% recyclable environmental protection packaging, Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation reported.

"Air capsule" needs good air blocking performance to prevent gas leakage and keep the package full, so as to play the role of buffering and protecting the goods. Due to the poor gas barrier performance of traditional PE, it needs to be co extruded with nylon to achieve the gas barrier effect. However, it is difficult for nylon co extruded structural packaging to be recycled by conventional methods. Compared with traditional PE materials, Dow ELITTMAT high-performance resin has better gas barrier property, which can achieve gas barrier effect in packaging film structures in some fields, help eliminate nylon, and form a full PE structure that is easy to recycle, Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation Report.

This resin material not only has excellent gas barrier property and can provide buffer protection, but also is a full PE single material structure, which can help achieve 100% recyclability of packaging, reduce production waste and reduce costs, Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation Report.

In the field of sustainable development, Dow expects that by 2035, all products sold to packaging applications will be 100% reusable or recyclable. P&G expects to achieve 100% recyclable or reusable packaging by 2030. This time, the two sides worked together to innovate and contribute to the goal of sustainable development.
