In the first nine months of the 2022-23 fiscal year (July June 2023 fiscal year), Bangladesh's ready to wear (RMG) exports (Chapters 61 and 62) increased by 12.17% to $35.252 billion, while exports from July to March 2022 amounted to $31.428 billion, according to temporary data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). The export growth rate of woven garments is faster than that of knitted goods.

Customs data shows that Bangladesh's clothing exports are 3.37% higher than the target of $34.102 billion from July to March 2023. From July to March 2023, exports of knitwear (Chapter 61) increased by 11.78% to $19.137 billion, compared to $17.119 billion in exports during the same period in the previous fiscal year.

Customs data shows that compared to the $14.308 billion export from July to March 2022, the export of woven clothing (Chapter 62) increased by 12.63% during the review period, reaching $16.114 billion.

Customs data shows that compared to the export value of $1157.86 million from July to March 2022, the export value of household textiles (Chapter 63, excluding 630510) decreased by 25.73% to $659.94 million during the reporting period.

According to customs data, during the period from July to March of fiscal year 23, the total exports of woven and knitted clothing, clothing accessories, and home textiles accounted for 86.55% of Bangladesh's total exports of $41.721 billion.

Customs data shows that in the 2021-2022 fiscal year, Bangladesh's clothing exports reached a historic high of $42.613 billion, an increase of 35.47% compared to the $31.456 billion export value in the 2021-2021 fiscal year. Despite the global economic slowdown, Bangladesh's clothing exports have successfully achieved positive growth in recent months.
