The EU's clothing imports are beginning to shift towards regions outside of China. After a significant decline in China's clothing exports to the United States at the end of 2022, customs data shows that EU clothing imports to China also began to decline from January to February this year.
Customs data shows that in January of this year, the EU's clothing imports to China decreased by 13.2% year-on-year, and the year-on-year decrease in February expanded to 20.1%. From January to February this year, the EU's clothing imports from China decreased by 16.4%, while the same period last year saw an increase of 10.3%.
Customs data shows that in January of this year, the EU's clothing imports decreased by 8.7% year-on-year, and in February, they decreased by 11.6% year-on-year. In euro terms, EU clothing imports in February this year decreased by 1.3% year on year and 6.8% year on year in dollar terms.
According to customs data, in February this year, the EU's clothing imports to Bangladesh decreased by 2.2%, and the import volume increased by 8.7% (calculated in euros). The EU's imports to China decreased by 14.5% (calculated in euros), and its total imports to other countries increased by 4%. The unit price of clothing imports to China has increased by 7%, while the unit price of imports to other countries has increased by 14%.
According to customs data, compared with three years ago, the EU's clothing imports from China fell by 24%, from other countries by 6%, from Bangladesh by 10%, and from Europe by 31%.
