The China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles disclosed on June 7 that the external demand market rebounded in May and China’s clothing exports continued to grow; exports of anti-epidemic materials fell, and textile exports declined.
China’s textile and apparel exports are calculated in RMB: From January to May 2021, the total textile and apparel exports were 732.49 billion yuan, an increase of 8.6% year-on-year; among them, textile exports were 364.48 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 10.3%; clothing exports were 368.01 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 37.6 %.
In May, China's textile and apparel exports were 158.14 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 24%. Among them, textile exports were 78.83 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 45.7%; clothing exports were 79.31 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.4%.
In addition, China's textile and apparel exports are calculated in U.S. dollars: from January to May 2021, the total textile and apparel exports were 112.68 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 17.3%. Among them, textile exports were US$56.07 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 3.1%; clothing exports were US$56.61 billion, a year-on-year increase of 48.3%.
In May, China's textile and apparel exports were US$24.31 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 17.7%; among them, textile exports were US$12.12 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 41.2%; clothing exports were US$12.19 billion, a year-on-year increase of 36.9%.
