In January-April 2021, although the output value of domestic children's knitted garments increased by 2.5 times to 23.6 million tenge, the market share was only 1%. The actual imported children's clothing was 2.3 billion tenge, an increase of 38.9%; domestic underwear market share 1.1%, actual imports of 30.9 million pieces, an increase of double; domestic sweaters market share of 2.5%, actual imports of 1.7 million pieces, an increase of 22%; domestic hosiery market share decreased from 9.5% to 2.9%, imports of 20.4 billion tenge , An increase of 3 times.

From January to April, Kazakhstan imported 31,500 tons of clothing and accessories, an increase of 110%; imports amounted to US$250 million, an increase of 62.4%. Among them, 8,400 tons were imported from the CIS countries, with an import value of 55.4 million U.S. dollars, and the main import sources were Uzbekistan and Russia. Imported 23,100 tons from countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States, with an import value of 190 million U.S. dollars. The main sources of imports are China and Turkey.

In May, the retail price of outerwear in Kazakhstan's domestic market rose 0.6% month-on-month and 5.6% year-on-year. Among them, men's clothing and women's clothing rose 5.6% year-on-year, and children's clothing rose 5.5%. The largest increase in clothing was in Almaty (+7.5%), Karaganda (+7.3%) and Shymkent (+6.3%).
