Poland will build a new multimodal logistics center to provide comprehensive logistics services for

2022-01-26

It is reported that a new multimodal terminal will be built in Kasnice, Poland, to provide integrated logistics services for the transportation of trade export containers, as well as goods from Baltic Sea ports to southern Poland.

According to the previous plan, the target capacity of the storage area of the modern station is 4,500 TEUs, and the transfer capacity will reach 220,000 TEUs per year.

In recent years, the surge in container freight volume of China-Europe freight trains has exposed bottlenecks in infrastructure and processing capacity, especially at the junction between wide gauge and standard gauge, and the last reloading hub before containers enter the EU—— Marashevich Field Station. The continuous congestion in the past has made Poland aware of the limitations of management efficiency.

According to previous statistics from Poland, more than 90% of the goods imported from China to Europe by rail are reloaded in Malaszewicz, while the reloading capacity of the depot is only 560,000 TEUs per year. It will only increase after December 2021. Over the years, Poland has made little improvement in customs clearance efficiency and reducing the processing time of goods at border ports. Many industry insiders have reported that Poland has problems in terms of infrastructure quality, customs clearance efficiency, and the ability to track and monitor deliveries.

Goods in transit can bring huge profits. Under the "eyes" of neighboring countries, Poland is increasing its investment in infrastructure. The Marashevich Stadium has undergone expansion and renovation in 2021, which has just passed. Moreover, many logistics companies have invested in the construction of storage yards in the local area, providing a place for cargo storage.

SJIUS sp.zo.o, a Polish logistics services company, has opened its new yard in Malaszewicz. General Manager Daniel said that the reason why they are building a new yard there is that they are still optimistic about the status of the Malaszewicz station as a transshipment hub for the European section of the China Railway Express. The company operates its own yards in Poland, Germany and other European countries. At the same time, it also provides multimodal transport and truck distribution services in Europe, customs and container storage services in Europe, and container recycling services.
