Two cotton technologies in Xinjiang won national invention patents

On the 27th, tianliwen, a researcher at the Institute of cash crops, Xinjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, received two national invention patent authorization certificates. The two patented technologies not only ensure that the key indicators such as fiber length, specific strength and evenness of Xinjiang machine picked cotton meet the high-quality cotton standards, but also solve the persistent problem of film pollution of Xinjiang machine picked cotton, greatly improving the quality of Xinjiang machine picked cotton.

These two technologies are "a high-quality machine picked cotton production method in Xinjiang" and "a film free cotton yarn production method using machine picked cotton as raw material". At present, the annual application area has reached more than 20million mu. Maoshuchun, a well-known cotton expert in China, said that these two patents were recognized by the industry as major technological inventions in the production of machine picked cotton in Xinjiang.

In view of the large amount of impurities such as leaves, boll shells and stems of Xinjiang machine picked cotton and the obvious decrease of cotton fiber length and strength caused by mechanical damage during ginning, tianliwen team optimized the design from the aspects of variety, plant row, mulching film, ripening agent, selection or determination of machine picked time and processing technology, and developed the production method of high-quality machine picked cotton in Xinjiang.

In 2018, tianliwen's team conducted a pilot demonstration in the main cotton planting counties in northern and southern Xinjiang. The results showed that the lint produced by this method had significantly higher fiber length, specific strength and evenness than the lint not produced by this method, while the foreign fibers and impurities decreased significantly.

In order to improve the internal quality, the problem of decreasing spinnability of Xinjiang machine picked cotton caused by film pollution should be solved. "Affected by the residual film, the cotton yarn will increase the breakage rate and the number of neps and impurities, which will directly affect the yarn strength; if the residual film is mixed into the cloth, it will cause more cloth defects, uneven dyeing, and even white spots." Tianliwen said.

To this end, tianliwen's team optimized the design from the aspects of cotton planting, picking, seed cotton processing, cotton yarn raw material screening and spinning, and developed a production method of cotton yarn without film pollution using machine picked cotton as raw material. From 2016 to 2017, Tian Liwen's team carried out experiments and demonstrations in Xinjiang Youngor Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., its cooperative enterprises and cotton planting bases. The results showed that the content of foreign fiber, plastic film and the number of lint in machine picked cotton planted, picked and processed by this method decreased significantly; After cotton yarn weaving, no uneven dyeing, color defects and white spots were found.

"The cotton yarn produced by this technology is used for weaving. The residue of different fibers in 20kg cloth can be controlled below 15, which has exceeded the requirements of high-end customers for cotton yarn." Said Wang Jun, deputy general manager of Aksu Xinhao Textile Co., Ltd.
