In 2021, Shantou has more than 8000 underwear and home furnishing garment manufacturing enterprises, including 688 Enterprises above designated size. The total industrial output value above designated size is 114.419 billion yuan, accounting for 34.3% of the total industrial output value of the city; The industrial added value was 24.657 billion yuan, accounting for 33.2% of the city's industrial added value. Since this year, Shantou's textile and garment industry has maintained a good development trend.

Within the jurisdiction of Shantou, there are 6 textile industry clusters that have established a pilot co construction relationship with China Textile Federation, namely: Chenghai District, Shantou - "famous city of Chinese woolen sweaters", Chaonan District, Shantou - "famous city of Chinese underwear and home clothes", Xiashan street, Chaonan district - "famous town of Chinese home clothes", Chendian Town, Chaonan district - "famous town of Chinese underwear" Liangying Town, Chaonan district - "China's famous knitting town" and Gurao Town, Chaoyang District, Shantou City - "China's famous knitting underwear town".
