Vietnamese garment companies dare not take more orders due to labor shortages

2022-06-10

Vietnamese media reported on June 6 that clothing orders are pouring in, but some manufacturers are afraid to take new orders due to insufficient production capacity. The biggest difficulty facing Vietnamese garment enterprises is the shortage of labor and raw materials.

Many enterprises have increased their export orders, and the order volume is gradually filling up. Analysts predict that Vietnam's textile and clothing exports this year are likely to exceed the set target of 42 billion to 43 billion US dollars.

According to Vu Duc Giang, chairman of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas), Vietnam's textile and apparel exports in the first four months of this year reached nearly 11 billion US dollars, an increase of nearly 21% year-on-year.

Among them, Vietnam's major markets for textiles and clothing, such as the United States, Europe, and Japan, have achieved considerable results.

It is worth noting that the orders of export enterprises are quite stable. Nguyen Thi Xue Mai, deputy secretary-general of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, said that the export orders of member companies are stable and show a good growth trend. At present, many enterprises have already placed their export orders until the end of the third quarter, but at present, enterprises are facing difficulties that they cannot recruit more workers to complete the new orders.
