It is reported that Brazil is trying to expand cotton exports to Bangladesh in order to increase the share of Brazilian cotton in the international market. The Brazilian business delegation has visited Bangladesh from June 12th to 15th. Members of the Brazilian Cotton Growers Association and the Brazilian Cotton Exporters Association have visited spinning mills around the country, and have cooperated with the Bangladesh Textile Association, garment manufacturers and exporters. At present, China is the world's largest cotton importer and the main exporter of Brazilian cotton, accounting for about 30% of Brazil's cotton exports, and Bangladesh accounts for about 10% of Brazil's cotton exports. Bangladesh spends 3.5-4 billion US dollars on imports every year. West African cotton, Indian cotton, Australian cotton and American cotton are the main choices for Bangladesh. Brazil has also become one of Bangladesh's imported cotton sources in recent years.
