According to customs data, from April to September 2022, Japan's imports of clothing and accessories increased by 29.8% year-on-year to 1794.366 billion yen. In the first six months of this year, the import volume accounted for 3% of the total import volume of 60590.442 billion yen, according to the provisional trade statistics released by the Ministry of Finance of the Far East countries.
The latest customs data shows that from April 2022 to September 2022, the import volume of textile yarn and fabric was 647.725 billion yen, a year-on-year increase of 30.8%, accounting for 1.1% of Japan's total imports.
In the first half of fiscal year 2022, Japan's textile yarn and fabric export volume was 389.659 billion yen, up 17% year on year. During the period from April to September 2022, the export volume accounted for 0.8% of Japan's total export volume of 49577.804 billion yen.
According to customs data, Japan's export of textile machinery was worth 145.877 billion yen, up 20.2% from April to September 2021, accounting for 0.3% of total exports.
According to customs data, in September 2022, Japan's imports of clothing and accessories increased by 40% year on year to 401.74 billion yen. This month, clothing imports accounted for 3.7% of Japan's total imports of 10,914,496 million yen. In September 2022, the import volume of textile yarn and fabric was 110.92 billion yen, an increase of 33.5% over the same period last year.
According to customs data, Japan exported 64.808 billion yen of textile yarn and fabric, up 21.3% year on year. In September 2022, textile yarn and fabric exports accounted for 0.7% of Japan's total exports of 8820212 billion yen. The value of Japan's textile machinery exports was 24.868 billion yen, an increase of 28.8% over August 2021.
