New Forces in International Trade Accelerate the Transformation and Transformation of the Global Log

2023-05-25

The Munich International Logistics Expo, a globally renowned logistics industry exhibition, has recently concluded. This exhibition is the first time to be held offline after the COVID-19. A total of 2320 exhibitors from 67 countries and regions participated in the exhibition, attracting 75000 professional visitors from more than 120 countries and regions. Exhibitors come from various fields such as logistics services and equipment, air freight, road and rail transportation, port and shipping, supply chain management, etc., covering the entire global "big logistics" industry chain.

At this exhibition, 62 exhibitors from China participated, making it the largest exhibitor outside the European Union. Chinese enterprises have made their debut with the latest achievements, showcasing new technologies, products, and solutions in the fields of port and waterway logistics, multimodal transportation, and transportation equipment. Together with global enterprises, they have accelerated the transformation and transformation of the international trade logistics industry.

Technological Innovation Promotes Cost Reduction and Efficiency Enhancement for Enterprises

At the booth of supply chain service provider Pros, visitors pick up a package and place it in a robotic cargo hopper. Intelligent warehousing robots automatically recognize cargo information and quickly transport it to the corresponding sorting table... At the exhibition, the trend of digitalization, intelligence, and automation in the global logistics industry has become increasingly evident.

In the field of international trade bulk logistics, due to the involvement of multiple business parties and different countries, various unexpected situations are prone to occur, leading to delayed or even lost delivery of goods. At the DHL Group booth, the newly upgraded and innovative digital logistics platform myDHLi has attracted many customers. On the operation page displayed on site, users can monitor sea and air freight in real-time. The accuracy of the predicted arrival time of sea freight based on big data model analysis is improved by 48% compared to the time provided by the shipping company. In addition, all quotations, commercial invoice, packing lists, freight forwarders, delivery certificates and other documents can be synchronously stored in the cloud for users to view or download at any time. The person in charge of the freight business of the enterprise, Shawat, introduced to reporters that customers are constantly putting forward new requirements in terms of transportation needs. Logistics suppliers should handle these uncertainties and complexities well and help customers maximize efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability in logistics.

The COVID-19 has accelerated the development of e-commerce worldwide and stimulated the development potential of the logistics industry. The key to the success of online trade lies in the elasticity and speed of the supply chain. We hope to provide comprehensive solutions for the shipping, customs clearance, and subsequent transportation of e-commerce goods. At the same time, we provide more convenient 'door to door' services for cross-border e-commerce transportation

In the past few years, global supply chains and consumer markets have encountered many uncertainties, and inventory risk management has become a common concern in the industry. In the logistics technology exhibition hall of this exhibition, a group of enterprises, including Bosch, showcased the latest automated inventory management system. It allows enterprises to know the inventory level of their own and third-party logistics suppliers in real time, predict the supply and demand level by calculating the sales model, and reallocate the marketing budget to the inventory goods.

Energy conservation and emission reduction have become the focus of industry development

The shipping industry is an important chain of international trade and economy, with shipping trade accounting for 80% of global trade volume. According to data from the World Economic Forum, the global shipping industry emits approximately 1 billion tons of greenhouse gases annually, accounting for approximately 3% of global emissions. The International Maritime Organization has established greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for the shipping industry through its greenhouse gas reduction strategy: based on 2008, carbon emission intensity will be reduced by 40% by 2030, and total greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by 50% by 2050. At this exhibition, major global shipping companies participating in the exhibition focused on energy conservation and emission reduction, launching a large number of environmentally friendly new products and technologies.

At the booth of COSCO Shipping Group, the world's first large-scale electric container ship has become a highlight. Lin Zhengxi, General Manager of COSCO Shipping Group Germany, introduced that as a green intelligent electrification research demonstration project, the ship is a 10000 ton river-sea direct ship with a capacity of 700 standard boxes, mainly powered by "box type power". COSCO Shipping has ordered multiple methanol fuel container ships and plans to introduce the world's first zero emission trans Pacific container ship by 2030.

The user end has also put forward more requirements for the environmental protection technology of shipping companies, promoting them to take greater efforts to reduce emissions. After conducting a survey of over 8000 users in 9 countries, including the UK, logistics software supplier Descartes Systems Group found that over half of the respondents were interested in receiving online orders through environmentally friendly delivery methods. If the goods are transported in a sustainable manner, 54% of respondents are willing to wait longer, and 20% are willing to pay more shipping for this. Chris Jones, Executive Vice President of Descartes Systems Group, believes that in 2023, more logistics companies will find a balance between delivery convenience and sustainability - this is a valuable investment.

At the exhibition, many companies keenly captured this new user demand and launched corresponding environmental protection measures. For example, Volvo Group highlighted the latest launch of freight electric trucks. The startup Evolution Aircraft has launched an electric cargo plane, which completed its maiden flight last year with a payload of 1200 kilograms, a maximum range of 815 kilometers, and a charging time of only 30 minutes. Analysts believe that with the popularization of more green and low-carbon transportation methods, the resilience and sustainability of the logistics industry will continue to increase.

Smooth logistics promote the development of international trade between China and Europe

As the world's largest trading country, China is a major trading partner for over 140 countries and regions, providing vast business opportunities for many foreign logistics enterprises. During the exhibition, China Railway Container Transport Co., Ltd. held a special promotion meeting for China Europe trains. At the same time, the "Logistics Professional Committee" of the German Chinese Chamber of Commerce was also unveiled and established. Konbaya, General Manager of Sales at Deutsche Bahn Freight Eurasia, stated that Germany and China are important trading partners, and the sustained and vigorous development of bilateral trade cannot be achieved without stable logistics services and transportation chains. Marcel Stein, CEO of German Trains Operation Co., Ltd., said: "China is an important economic partner of Europe. Driven by the initiative of jointly building the the Belt and Road, the trade channel between the two sides has become more smooth."

In the B2 exhibition hall where shipping companies such as COSCO Shipping gather, visitors from China's Jincheng Logistics Network stand are in constant stream. This platform brings together 280000 registered freight forwarding users and 240000 registered trade users from over 200 countries and regions worldwide, with supplier resources covering the upstream and downstream of the international logistics industry. At this exhibition, this Chinese logistics company collaborated with partners from multiple countries such as China, the United Kingdom, and Romania to form an exhibition area of over 200 square meters. On site staff member Tesla introduced to reporters that the platform mainly serves global small and medium-sized logistics enterprises, providing them with comprehensive services such as online transactions, payment and settlement, and cooperation risk protection, providing assistance for small and medium-sized international logistics enterprises to expand their business and achieve profitability. For example, in many island areas located in Africa, we have paid users, which are areas that some international large enterprises do not cover, but provide growth space for small and medium-sized logistics enterprises, "Tesla said.

Du Mei, the President of TSIT Company in Germany, which focuses on logistics routes, warehousing, and transportation between China and Europe, said that in recent years, there has been an increasing number of international trade and economic exchanges between Germany and China. China's high-tech products such as solar panels and lithium batteries for automobiles are transported to Europe through China Europe freight trains and sea freight, and many German industrial products are also transported to China. This close cooperation in the supply chain has promoted the development of economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.

Jon Komanda, sales director of container terminal operator Omen Group, has just returned to Germany after completing his commercial promotion in China. I am amazed by the vitality displayed by the Chinese economy, especially the rapid development of electric vehicles, green environmental protection industries, and the widespread application of digital scenarios, which have made the operation of the entire society more efficient. "He told reporters," We have been cooperating with Chinese enterprises in the supply chain for many years and trust each other. China has many advantages such as industrial policies, and I am full of confidence in the development of the Chinese economy
