1. Car sales in May fell 3.1% year-on-year

In May, automobile production and sales were 2.04 million and 2.128 million vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 6.8% and 3.1% respectively.

From January to May, the production and sales of automobiles were 10.626 million and 10.875 million, respectively, an increase of 36.4% and 36.6% year-on-year.

(1) Passenger car sales in May decreased by 1.7% year-on-year

In May, the production and sales of passenger vehicles were 1.617 million and 1.646 million, a year-on-year decrease of 2.7% and 1.7% respectively. In terms of vehicle types, the production and sales of sedans were 774 thousand and 778,000 respectively, of which production fell by 2.1% year-on-year and sales increased by 0.1% year-on-year; the production and sales of SUVs were completed at 719,000 and 748,000 vehicles, down 4.7% and 3.8% respectively; The production and sales of MPV were 78,000 and 82,000 respectively, of which the production decreased by 0.2% year-on-year, and the sales volume increased by 0.4% year-on-year; the production and sales of cross-type passenger vehicles were completed 44,000 and 38,000 respectively, of which production increased by 17.6% year-on-year, and sales volume increased year-on-year. From January to May, the production and sales of passenger vehicles were 8.285 million and 8.437 million, respectively, a year-on-year increase of 39.1% and 38.1%. In May, the sales of Chinese brand passenger vehicles were 679,000, an increase of 18.6% year-on-year, accounting for 41.3% of total passenger vehicle sales, and their share increased by 7.1 percentage points year-on-year.

From January to May, the cumulative sales of Chinese brand passenger vehicles were 3.507 million, a year-on-year increase of 54.7%, accounting for 41.6% of total passenger vehicle sales, and their share increased by 4.5 percentage points year-on-year. Among them, the sales volume of sedans was 1.055 million, a year-on-year increase of 99.3%, and the market share was 26.9%; the sales volume of SUV was 2.045 million, a year-on-year increase of 43.4%, and the market share was 51.3%; the sales volume of MPV was 261,000, a year-on-year increase of 36.7%, and the market share was 67.3%.

(2) Commercial vehicle sales in May decreased by 7.4% year-on-year

In May, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 424,000 and 482,000, a year-on-year decrease of 19.6% and 7.4% respectively. In terms of vehicle models, the production and sales of trucks were 376,000 and 435,000, down 23.3% and 9.7% year-on-year; the production and sales of passenger cars were 48,000 and 46,000, up 28% and 23.2% year-on-year.

From January to May, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 2.341 million and 2.438 million, respectively, an increase of 27.8% and 31.9% year-on-year. In terms of vehicle types, the production and sales of trucks were 2.135 million and 2.232 million, an increase of 26.6% and 30.8% year-on-year; the production and sales of passenger cars were 207,000 and 206,000, an increase of 41.7% and 44.6% respectively.

2. New energy vehicle sales in May increased by 1.6 times year-on-year

In May, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 217,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 1.5 times and 1.6 times respectively. In terms of vehicle types, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 181,000 and 179,000, respectively, an increase of 1.8 times and 1.7 times year-on-year; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 36,000 and 39,000, respectively, an increase of 67.8% and 1.2 times; the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 38 and 9, respectively, down 41.5% and 90% year-on-year.

From January to May, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 967,000 and 950,000 respectively, a year-on-year increase of 2.2 times. In terms of vehicle types, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 818,000 and 794,000, respectively, an increase of 2.6 and 2.5 times year-on-year; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 149,000 and 156,000, respectively, a year-on-year increase of 1.1 times and 1.3 times; the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 188 and 207 respectively, a year-on-year decrease of 47.3% and 44.1% respectively.

3. The main business income of key enterprises from January to April increased by 50.1% year-on-year

From January to April, key enterprises (groups) in the automobile industry achieved a total of 137.224 billion yuan in main business income, a year-on-year increase of 50.1%; a total of 156.38 billion yuan in profits and taxes, a year-on-year increase of 133.2%.

4. Automobile exports in May increased by 208.4% year-on-year

In May, 151,000 vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 208.4%. In terms of vehicle types, 115,000 passenger vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 226.4%; commercial vehicle exports were 36,000, a year-on-year increase of 161.7%.

From January to May, 670,000 vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 107.1%. In terms of vehicle types, passenger vehicle exports were 511,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 109.1%; commercial vehicle exports were 158,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 100.8%.
