According to the Russian "Kommersant", according to the draft of the "Eurasian Economic Union and Customs Union's Unified Commodity List for Foreign Economic Activities" being revised by the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Eurasian Economic Union will resume the 15% levy on electric vehicles from 2022. Import tariffs.
Currently, the alliance implements zero tariffs on electric vehicle imports, valid until the end of 2021. This is a temporary preferential policy proposed by Belarus.
The Economic Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission stated that at present, no Eurasian Economic Union member state has proposed to extend the zero-tariff import period of electric vehicles. The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade has confirmed that it has not received any application for extending the period of preferential policies for the import of electric vehicles.
The European Business Association (EBA) proposed to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development that it hopes to extend the zero-tariff import policy for electric vehicles until 2024. The European Business Association believes that the decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission to impose tariffs on electric vehicles is in contradiction with the willingness to support the development of the electric vehicle market.
