2021-07-09

On July 9, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (hereinafter referred to as "China Automobile Association") released the latest phase of production and sales data. Data show that in June this year, domestic car sales were 2.015 million units, down 12.4% year-on-year; cumulative sales from January to June this year totaled 12.891 million units, up 25.6% year-on-year.

In terms of new energy vehicles, in June this year, the sales of new energy vehicles were 256,000, 1.4 times the year-on-year; from January to June, the sales of new energy vehicles totaled 1.206 million, a cumulative increase of 2 times year-on-year.

In terms of luxury vehicles, in June this year, the sales volume of domestically produced luxury vehicles was 258,000, down 2.0% year-on-year; from January to June, the sales volume of domestically produced luxury vehicles was 1.658 million, an increase of 41.5% year-on-year.

In terms of exports, in June, auto companies exported 158,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 154.5%, setting a new record high. From January to June, auto companies exported a total of 828,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 114.7%.

In addition, the China Automobile Association announced the TOP 15 enterprise groups for sales of Chinese brand cars from January to June. Each car company achieved substantial year-on-year growth, with SAIC, Changan, and Dongfeng ranked in the top three.

According to the China Automobile Association, from the perspective of market conditions, automobile production and sales in June fell year-on-year, and commercial vehicles fell more than passenger cars, but new energy vehicles and exports continued to perform strongly, and sales both broke historical records. Looking ahead, there are still unstable and uncertain factors in the global economic recovery and epidemic prevention and control. The impact of chip supply problems on enterprise production is still prominent. The sharp rise in raw material prices will further increase the cost pressure of enterprises. These problems will also affect the automotive industry.
