Among them, 9.66 million newly registered motor vehicles in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of 67.31%; 9.04 million newly registered motor vehicles in the second quarter, an increase of 8.19% year-on-year; 8.83 million newly registered motor vehicles in the third quarter, a year-on-year decrease of 2.29%.
As of September, the car ownership in 76 cities exceeded 1 million, an increase of 7 compared to the same period last year. Among them, there are 34 cities with more than 2 million vehicles; 18 cities with more than 3 million vehicles, followed by Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Suzhou, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Xi’an, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Qingdao, and Guangzhou. , Shijiazhuang, Ningbo, Foshan, Linyi. From the perspective of new registrations, in the first three quarters of 2021, 16.66 million passenger vehicles were newly registered nationwide, an increase of 3.19 million vehicles or 23.76% year-on-year; the country’s newly registered trucks were 3.34 million vehicles, an increase of 379,000 vehicles compared to the same period last year. There are 6.78 million new energy vehicles in the country, accounting for 2.28% of the total number of vehicles. Among them, there are 5.52 million pure electric vehicles, accounting for 81.53% of the total number of new energy vehicles. From the perspective of new registrations, in the first three quarters of 2021, 1.871 million new energy vehicles were newly registered nationwide, an increase of 1.199 million vehicles or 178.49% year-on-year. Among them, 767 thousand new energy vehicles were newly registered in the third quarter, an increase of 466,000 units or 154.71% year-on-year.
The number of motor vehicle drivers in the country reached 476 million, of which the number of car drivers was 439 million, accounting for 92.14% of the total number of drivers. In terms of the number of newly-licensed drivers, in the first three quarters of 2021, the number of newly-licensed drivers nationwide was 26.72 million, a year-on-year increase of 7.394 million, an increase of 38.26%; among them, 9.72 million were newly-licensed drivers in the third quarter. In terms of the age of drivers, there are 337 million drivers between 26 and 50 years old, accounting for 70.85%; 66.99 million drivers between 51 and 60 years old, accounting for 14.07%; 17.14 million drivers over 60 years old, accounting for 3.60%.
