On the morning of May 18, the first "Hainan free trade port - Nansha Port - southwest region" special train for grain, oil, sea and rail transport started from Nansha Port South Station, marking the official opening of the sea and rail transport channel, connecting the logistics supply chain between Hainan free trade port, Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Bay area and Chengdu Chongqing twin city economic circle, creating a strategic linkage fulcrum between Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Bay area and Hainan free trade port, and further promoting the coordinated development of South China, Southwest China and Dawan area.
It is reported that the special train is jointly built by Guangzhou port group and Hainan port and shipping logistics, Guangzhou COSCO Shipping Logistics, Guangzhou Railway Group and China Railway Tielong. It carries more than 500 tons of grain and oil and a total of 20 foot tank containers. It is transported by water from Hainan Yangpu international container terminal to Nansha port, and then sent to Sichuan and Chongqing from Nansha Port South Station in the port area in the form of special train, Compared with the previous transportation mode through the Yangtze River and sea, it saves about 12 days.

It is reported that from January to April 2022, the total volume of sea rail combined transport containers of Guangzhou port completed 66700 TEU, a year-on-year increase of 34.7%. Among them, the container volume of sea rail intermodal transport of Nansha Port Railway exceeded 20000 TEU on May 14, and the time spent for each 10000 TEU was reduced from 70 days to 26 days.
