Paraguay imported 11,480 light-duty cars and trucks in the first four months of this year, up 30.3 percent from 8,811 in the same period in 2021, the Association of Automobile and Machinery Dealers (Cadam) said recently.
According to official data, the import volume of light vehicles in the first four months of this year was 10,802 units, a year-on-year increase of 31.7%. Among them, the import volume of vans increased significantly year-on-year, reaching 173.8%, followed by SUVs (+112.4%), sedans (+9.6%) and small passenger cars (+7.4%). Imports of pickups fell 5% year-on-year. During the same period, the import volume of trucks was 678 units, an increase of 11.7% year-on-year.
In the first four months of this year, Chevrolet brand vehicles topped the list of light vehicle imports, accounting for 16.5% of the total imports of all brands, ahead of Toyota (14.7%) and Hyundai (13.6%). Hyundai HB20 and Volkswagen GOL were both the most imported light vehicle models, each accounting for 6.26% of total imports of such vehicles, followed by Toyota Hilux (6.03%).
Meanwhile, in terms of truck imports, Kia leads other brands with a share of 28.5%, followed by Isuzu (17%) and Sinotruk (10.3%). The Kia K2700 (28.5%) was the most imported truck model, ahead of the Isuzu QKR55 (12.2%) and Sinotruk HOWO (6.6%).
